Pomona Man Killed In Single Vehicle Walnut Crash, DUI Suspected: CHP

A man was killed in an early morning collision on westbound Valley Boulevard east of Paseo Tesoro, CHP said.

WALNUT, CA — A fatal crash Tuesday morning was most likely the result of impaired driving, authorities stated.

A man identified only as a 28-year-old Pomona resident, was driving a 1989 Honda Civic when he struck a light pole and was killed in that solo-vehicle crash in the city of Walnut, California Highway Patrol's Baldwin Park division said.

The collision was reported at just after 3 a.m., on westbound Valley Boulevard east of Paseo Tesoro, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"The 28-year-old man died at the scene. His name was withheld, pending family notification," CHP said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Honda Civic went out of control for unknown reasons and struck the concrete light pole.

"Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a factor in this collision," a CHP statement said.
