Updated: Power Outage Leaves 1,923 Walnut Residents in the Dark

Power was partially restored in Walnut in the early morning hours after an outage, but some residents reported to Patch still not having electricity as late at 5:30 a.m.

The Southern California Edison website reports that as of 7:42 a.m., 314 residents remain without power. The cause is listed as "faulty equipment."  Power is expected to be fully restored by 1 p.m.

Power was restored in Walnut at 2:17 a.m. after an outage that lasted nearly three hours.

Southern California still had not listed a cause for outage on its website at the time of this update.

Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.

Southern California Edison crews are looking into the cause of a blackout that has cut the power for 1,923 Walnut residents.

At around 11:36 p.m. Wednesday night, electricity went out in the neighborhoods near Grand Avenue and Amar/Temple Road.

The cause is unknown as of 12:07 a.m., according to the Edison website. Crews are aware of the problem and are investigating the cause.

Power is expected to be restored at 1:30 a.m.

Outages appear to be happening with great frequency in recent months, with Patch writing about blackouts in the area in December, November, and October, as well as the one last week caused by a copper theft at the vacant Diamond Bar Honda.
