Read Together Diamond Bar to Showcase 'Zorro'

The annual Read Together Diamond Bar program is back.

This year's pick is the novel "Zorro" by Chilean author Isabel Allende.  The city and the Diamond Bar Friends of the Library are encouraging the public to read the author's literay prequel to the original story of Zorro and participate in some upcoming events.

The program starts with a book discussion at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 lead by the library staff. On Oct. 23, teens and tweens are invited to participate in an art activity inspired by the masked man. That special event is at 4 p.m.

Other events planned include playing games and doing art activities inspired by Zorro and his era at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 and a viewing Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. of the 1998 version of the movie "The Mask of Zorro" starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.  The movie is for adults and older teens.

On Nov. 7 at 2:45 p.m., the program wraps up with a family movie matinee of the 2011 animated riff on the Zorro legend that includes free popcorn for all who attend.

Read Together Diamond Bar is aimed at promoting literary and strengthening the city’s sense of community by encouraging everyone to read the same novel and partake in activities based on the featured novel’s theme.
