Readers Share Suggestions for Former Ralphs Space
Diamond Bar Patch readers and Facebook fans share their thoughts on what should go in the building, which has been empty for eight months.
It’s one of the most talked about things in Diamond Bar: what is going to go into the vacant Ralphs building?
After Diamond Bar Patch into the 40,755 square foot building at Grand Avenue and Diamond Bar Boulevard, readers on the page and Diamond Bar Patch’s Facebook shared what they would like to see go into the space.
Deborah Barela Duran is interested in a Michael’s craft store, while Eddie Chu wants Walmart and Elizabeth Settle Weyhreter a John’s Incredible Pizza.

Because it was once a grocery store, several readers had suggestions along those lines.
“If it’s to be grocery, then I think a lot of us here would like Trader Joe’s,” said Niki Kop Dow.

“Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, or Sprouts would be good choices for grocery (though I don’t really shop at them but may if there is one in the area),” wrote Lisa Grayson. “Walmart, Winco (don’t think the space is big enough).”
“I would be thrilled with either a Trader Joe’s or a Sprouts,” Deborah Dolla wrote. “A Stater Bros. store would also be great! I hate to keep spending money in Brea, Chino Hills, and Walnut. I would prefer to do business here in Diamond Bar.”
Others are hopeful something completely different will go in.
“How about a multi-media teaching center?” wrote Christina Long. “Or a ‘Diamond Bar Playhouse?’ Bring the arts and education to the public at large in DB.”
Valerie Paige Goyer has a retro idea.
“A skating rink!" she suggested. "With a massive disco ball!”
According to the city’s Community Development Director, Greg Gubman, the city has reached out to several grocery stores.
“We’ve approached Trader Joe’s and Sprouts directly,” he said in a previous interview. “We’ve contacted over 20 grocery retailers and we’ve focused on ones that the community wants to see there.”
