Smart & Final Expands Recall of Frozen Pasta

The Los Angeles-based grocery chain issued the recall because of a labeling error that could affect people with food allergies.

Smart & Final Saturday expanded its recall of certain batches of frozen tortellini because of a labeling error that left wheat, eggs and milk off the ingredients lists, endangering people with food allergies.

The Los Angeles-based grocery company said its "La Romanella Tri-Color Cheese Tortellini," sold in 2.5 pound sacks. do not warn people who are allergic or sensitive to those three ingredients.

The chain has a store in the City of Industry located at 18204 E. Gale Ave.

Sacks of the pasta bearing lot codes 020713, 022513, 031113, 031813, 031913 and 040313 were recalled in April. The newly-recalled lot codes missing the correct ingredient labels are 062612, 071712, 91412, 100212, 101312, 101512, 101612, 111912, 120112, 120312, 010813, 011813, and 012813. The UPC number is 728920130026.

The food was distributed in California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Nevada and sold through Smart & Final stores or Cash & Carry stores. No reports of injury or illness have been received to date, the company said.

The recall was for the mislabeled ingredients only.
