Suzanne Middle School Student To Play Carnegie Hall

This 6th Grade Middle School Student from Walnut Unified School District will play Carnegie Hall in March.

WALNUT, CA — What does it take to play Carnegie Hall? For this Suzanne Middle School 6th grader it was being named 1st place winner in the 2017 Golden Classical Music Awards.

Frederick Chiu, an 11-year-old Walnut student, earned an invitation to perform on the world’s most renowned stage – Carnegie Hall.

Chiu will play the “The Cat and The Mouse” by Aaron Copland on March 13 in the Weill Recital Hall.

“I am thrilled by this great opportunity and also grateful that all the hard work paid off!” he said.

Frederick began learning piano from his father at age five. Just three years later, he performed Mozart piano concerto No. 23 with the Ambitus Orchestra at Mt. SAC’s Feddersen Recital Hall.

Now, he will take one of music's most prestigious stages.
