Are you primed to be a victim when you go out of town? Diamond Bar Sheriffs Station wants you to be aware of how to keep your home safe.

WALNUT, CA — If you are leaving to go out of town for vacation you need to make sure you are not a waiting victim for burglary, according to the Walnut - Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station in a recent announcement.
Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Captain Al Reyes reminded residents tools to use to make sure they don't become a victim.
"My goal is to partner with our communities to fight and prevent crime," Reyes said.

Install a home security system if you can.
It's tempting to post your vacation pictures on social media, but that advertises you are gone, according to residents. Save those pictures for when you return.

If you are leaving, tell a trusted neighbor and contact your Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's Station for a vacation check while you're gone. Call 909-595-2264 for more information.
Remember to report anyone walking through your neighborhood that appears to have no reason to be there, the said. Also if someone is seen knocking on doors for an extended period of time, or looking in windows.
Finally, organize a community watch in your neighborhood to get everyone active in the prevention of crime.
"If you see something say something," Reyes said. "If you see a residential burglary in progress, call 911 and stay on the line with our dispatch. Do not engage the burglary but do be prepared to be a good witness."
