The five-acre brush fire was put out 30 minutes after it erupted.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel quickly extinguished a fire that erupted on Valley Boulevard near Grand Avenue this afternoon.

The five-acre brush fire at 22063 E. Valley Boulevard broke out about 4:30 p.m. and was put out around 30 minutes later, said Capt. Mark Savage of the county fire department.

Fire fighters are expected to stay on the scene for several hours to make sure there are no lingering hot spots, Savage said.
