[VIDEO] DBHS Symphony Orchestra Performs

The Diamond Bar High School Orchestra performed two pieces with guest conductors at Saturday afternoon's fourth annual Spotlight on the Arts.

Guest conductor Henry Shin was not far from home. 

The DBHS graduate returned to Diamond Bar Saturday afternoon to conduct the school's symphony orchestra through a daunting challenge: Dvorak's New World Symphony. 

Shin said he was surprised by the challenge band director Steve Acciani gave to the group, but Shin said the orchestra proved capable.

Shin, who is now working toward his Ph.D. in music at the University of California, Los Angeles, said that his mother — Kay Shin (co-owner of ) — made sure all of her customers knew about the afternoon concert, helping to bring in a nearly full house for the Saturday showcase.
