Walnut to Rehabilitate Creekside Drive

Creekside Drive will soon get renovated.

The Walnut City Council Wednesday night voted 4-0 to award a $635,634 bid to Sequel Contracting, Inc. for the rehabilitation of Creekside Drive.

Every year, city streets are inspected and rated as part of a pavement management study, Community Services Director Mary Rooney said. The streets that need a rehabilitation the most go to the top of the list, she said.

"We prioritize street repairs by their condition," she said. “Resurfacing has everything to do with the actual condition of the road. This road is in need of some significant reconstruction.”

At the April 24 meeting, the council approved staff putting out a request for formal bids for the project.  The project was delayed for around 60 days, however, to enable Charter Communications to lower some of their existing equipment below the proposed level of excavation to eliminate any possible construction conflicts, according to the staff report.

Construction of the road is expected to start mid month and be completed by the end of August, according to staff.
