A letter from State Superintendent Tony Thurmond, intended for County Superintendents, was shared on social media platforms this evening.
March 31, 2020
Good evening,
Find out what's happening in Diamond Bar-Walnutfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
A letter from State Superintendent Tony Thurmond, intended for County Superintendents, was shared on various social media platforms this evening. The letter states an “opinion” that:
“Due to the current safety concerns and needs for ongoing social distancing, it currently appears that our students will not be able to return to school campuses before the end of the school year. This is in no way to suggest that school is over for the year, but rather we should put all efforts into strengthening our delivery of education through distance learning.”

While this is not an official notice or recommendation to extend school closures, if and when our School District receives such official notification, we will communicate with all families immediately.
Further direction, including updates and possible direction from the state, is expected in the next few days (perhaps as early as tomorrow).
Our District continues to focus on developing our Extended Distance Learning Plan, which will allow us to effectively (and practically) do so in a manner, which ensures that all teachers will facilitate the education of their assigned students. We are also in the process of providing technological resources to students as needed. As previously shared, we plan to implement this second phase on April 20 (immediately following our Spring Break).
Thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented time.
Bob
