“I am thrilled to have a past history with Castle Rock as we enter the 60th year celebration in the present together,” Chang shared.

“I am looking forward to investing into the future with the dynamic staff, students, and our community!”

She will succeed retired administrator, and former Castle Rock principal, Jackie Brown who has been serving as interim principal this year.

As a capstone to this heartwarming story, Brown was also Chang’s third grade teacher at Walnut Elementary School.

Brown presented her former student with a keepsake class photo during the school introduction last week.

Later that morning, while visiting Christa Richard’s transitional kindergarten classroom, students were learning a “P is for Principal” lesson with Chang’s welcome photo projected on the white board!

Chang holds a bachelor’s degree from University of California, San Diego, master’s degree from California State University Los Angeles, and doctoral degree from California State University, Fullerton.
