1 Dead In Head-On Collision On Highway 113 In Solano County: CHP

Two others were hospitalized following the fatal crash Thursday evening south of Dixon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — One person died and two others suffered major injuries in a head-on collision Thursday evening south of Dixon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred at 6:02 p.m. on state Highway 113 south of Casey Road and involved a Hyundai Sonata sedan and a Dodge Caravan minivan, CHP Officer Dave Harvey said in a news release.

A 24-year-old Fairfield man was driving the Sonata northbound on SR-113, south of Casey Road, when his car turned left into the southbound lane for an unknown reason, Harvey said.

His car collided head-on with the Caravan which was traveling southbound on SR-113 — fatally injuring a 63-year-old Vacaville resident who was riding in the minivan, according to the CHP.

A 55-year-old Vacaville woman was driving the minivan and suffered major injuries in the collision, Harvey said. She was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Vacaville.

The Hyundai driver also suffered major injuries and was flown by CHP helicopter to Kaiser Vacaville, according to the CHP.

The identity of the minivan passenger, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, will be released by the Solano County coroner's office once the person's next of kin is properly notified.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation late Thursday night, according to the CHP.

"Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor," Harvey said.
