Take a spin on a Halloween Classic
Every Halloween season I am inspired to read Washington Irving’s, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. A classic haunting tale that has been adapted in every media form, from the new television series currently on Fox , to Johnny Depp’s rendition of Ichabod Crane in the Movie Sleepy Hollow. Even Disney, took a playful spin on the tale, with their 1949 short film that is now deemed a Disney Classic. However, the most creative retelling of this famed Halloween legend in book form, is Jessica Verday’s, Hollow series. While still following the character line of Ichabod and Katarina, her ingenious spin captivates you into their story, wrapping them into your heart... opening the door to mystery, ghosts and a love that transcends time.
Follow along in this trilogy as Abby - a perfume maker at heart, mourns the death of her best friend Kristen. When mysterious Caspian suddenly appears in her life, questions start to arise around Kristen’s death, as well as who he really is. Opening the door to the mysterious key that keeps him tied to Sleepy Hollow's cemetery and if he has the answers that can unlock the mystery behind her best friend’s death.

Once again, I found myself flying through the pages of the Hollow Trilogy. A masterfully blended of a tale of young love and the classic legend of Sleepy Hollow. The Hidden was a wonderful echo of the first two books, The Hollow and The Haunted. With The Hidden, you will find more of the haunting story between Caspian and Abbey's undying love, as well as those that want to tear it apart. It winds a tale that leaves you questioning- What would you do? How far would you go for your best friend? Your eternal love? Your family? Your dream? And what happens if each question has a different consequence?
The Hidden continues right where The Haunted left off, unfolding the story of Abbey and the Revenants, leaving her with an impossible choice. Does she stay with her family, her future, her dream of running Abbey's Hollow, or does she choose her love for Caspian and leave this world forever?
Jessica Verday makes you turn pages faster and faster, not leaving a small crumb of what Abbey's decision might be. Breathing life into a classic tale, making cemeteries a magical place of peace and maybe even love.
