2 Felons Arrested in Connection with May 2 Shooting in Fairfield

Two convicted felons were arrested for a shooting at a Fairfield neighborhood earlier this month, the Fairfield Police Department  said Wednesday.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1500 block of James Street around 8:40 p.m. on May 2, police said.

No victims were found at the scene but police determined that a dozen rounds were fired, police said.

Officers provided police dispatch with a description of a vehicle involved in the shooting and it was located near the scene shortly afterward.

Javon Dyer, 23, of Fairfield, and Jamere Franklin, 25, of Vallejo, were both arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of possession of controlled substances for sale and multiple felonies.

Dyer was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a loaded semi-automatic gun.

In a follow-up investigation, detectives determined multiple people entered a residence at the scene of the shooting, caused a disturbance and then left in a vehicle while firing multiple shots, police said.

Franklin had previous contacts with law enforcement for incidents including criminal conspiracy, evading law enforcement, robbery, domestic violence and driving under the influence.

Dyer had previous contacts with law enforcement for burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and battery, police said.
