• Fall 2026 guide to Sacramento-area pumpkin patches and corn mazes (kcra.com) — Dixon's Cool Patch Pumpkins on Dixon Avenue West is open daily through Halloween, offering its famous corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, and more, with maze tickets at $25 and free admission for kids 5 and under. The regional guide also highlights other Sacramento-area pumpkin patches and corn mazes, but Dixon residents can enjoy a major fall attraction right in town.
   

• Small Businesses Pressing for SB 690 (independentvoice.com) — A Dixon-based company, Element Electric, is facing a $200,000 lawsuit under California's Invasion of Privacy Act and is urging Gov. Gavin Newsom to sign SB 690, which would curb such claims. Owners Andrew and Gytahnna Loffgren say predatory lawsuits over routine website data collection threaten tiny firms like theirs, and they've joined other Sacramento-area businesses pushing for retroactive protections.

• I don't know how many of you were able to witness the firefighters procession that on my way to Sacramento had firefighters and CHP standing on overpasses along the 80 in honor of him.
  It was pretty amazing. Choked me up. And I hope it helps the family and his friends cope with his loss (Nextdoor Westside Park)
