The City of Dixon Weed Abatement Program is conducted every year on behalf of the Dixon Code Compliance Division to reduce the threat of fire due to high weeds and debris found on vacant and undeveloped parcels within the city limits.
After Council approval, Abatement Notices will be mailed out to property owners before the end of April advising property owner’s to abate any nuisance conditions in violation of the City’s Weed Abatement Ordinance, Part 5 of Chapter 9.01 of Title 9 of the Dixon Municipal Code (Sections 9.01.500 et seq.).
The weed abatement list of parcels will not include lots that are developed or improved.
Developed or improved parcels include but are not limited to commercial properties, one & two family residential properties or apartments and condominiums. The developed and improved lots will be handled on a case-by-case basis as any regular code violation complaint.
Undeveloped lots will be inspected after the voluntarily weed abatement deadline in May to ensure that overgrown weeds and any debris that may be hazardous are removed from the lots.

The goal of the voluntary abatement deadline is to ensure that all vacant lots are in compliance or abated before the end of May. Although these activities are done once a year, the same lots may be addressed for re-growth at any time throughout the rest of the year.
