Anniversary Dance Show, Other Cool Events on the Weekend Planner June 24-26

Are you looking for something nearby to do this summer weekend? Check out some of the things on the Dixon Events Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday:

The Vacaville Museum and Guild Inaugural Golf Tournament is today at the Green Tree Golf Club in Vacaville. Registration starts at 11 a.m., and a shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. It is a straight scramble, and you may sign up for men’s, women’s or mixed-team foursomes. The first golfer to hit a hole in one will take home a 2011 GMC Terrain, generously donated to the tourney by Pontiac Buick GMC!

If you go: Tournament entry fee is $95, with all proceeds going to the Museum. Dinner will be provided by Pietro’s No. 1, Outback Steakhouse and Vasquez Deli. Enjoy music, sun and fun with friends and family while surrounded by a beautiful park setting. Vendors are available for cold drinks, food and desserts. CreekWalk is for babies to grandparents and everyone in-between. This week it’s all about the groovy sounds of 60’s with the 60’s Summer of Love.

If you go: These free events go from 6:30 p.m.to 9:30 p.m. at Andrews Park, 718 E. Monte Vista Avenue in Vacaville.

 

Saturday and Sunday:

is proud to announce its upcoming recital, Instant Replay: The Anniversary Show. It will showcase the wonderfully talented dancers of Dixon! The studio opened its doors in November 2000, and since then has taught children and adults ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. This year’s recital marks the studio’s 10th Show Anniversary. It's sure to be a show not to miss!

If you go: Tickets are $13 each and can be purchased by phone (707) 469-4013, in person or online here. Saturday’s shows are 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sunday’s show is at 2 p.m. at Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre, 1010 Ulatis Drive in Vacaville.

 

Sunday:

Let the magical sounds of steel drum music transport you to the islands as you enjoy A Tropical Afternoon in the Admiral’s Garden benefiting the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. The festivities include a wine tasting and live music provided by the premier steel drum band, Shabang. The afternoon continues with a tropical gourmet lunch by Englund’s Catering followed by a dessert tasting tent featuring local pastry chefs and decorators. Tours of the mansions, St. Peter’s Chapel and the Naval Museum are included in your registration fee. Lunchtime entertainment includes the Singing Blue Stars of the USS Hornet (back by popular demand), performing music of the 40’s and 50’s. Mingle and chat with Survivor TV stars Yau-Man Chan, Sylvia Kwan, Sonja Christopher, Cecilia Mansilla, and other local media celebrities. Don't forget to wear your favorite island outfit!

If you go: This fun afternoon is $75 per person or two for $140 and includes tastings, lunch and tours. Bring extra cash, checks or a credit card if you wish to participate in auctions or games.
