Antique Sale Set by Soroptimist

March Weekend to Offer Appraisals

Seems lots of folks have an item or two in their home that they wonder about; is it a valuable antique?  This may be one of the reasons the Soroptimist of Dixon host their annual Antique Sale at the Dixon fairgrounds each spring.

This year’s event will be Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and features independent appraisers Steven Yvaska of San Jose and Larry Hull of Red Bluff. For a fee of $5.00, they will give a verbal identification and evaluation in addition to being available to assist collectors in pricing antiques for sale.

Arrangements can also be made for private consultations including estate evaluations and written appraisals for insurance. Yvaska is a frequent guest speaker at Bay Area historical societies and he is known for his columns on antiques published in the San Jose Mercury Newspaper. Hull specializes in pre-Civil War and American pattern glass. He is highly regarded for his expertise and is a retired antiques dealer.

The Girl Scouts Cadettes Troop 1220 will sell cookies and Dixon Grad Night volunteers will see raffle tickets to their popular gift baskets.

Admission to the Dixon May Fair Antique Sale is $5.00 with free return and free parking on both days. For more information, contact Twin Bridges at (530) 241-4063 or go to www.tbcashows.info.
