Bomb Threats Close Solano Community College Campuses

School officials evacuated and closed all three campuses Monday.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Two bomb threats phoned in Monday to Solano Community College prompted the school to evacuate all three of its campuses in Vacaville, Fairfield and Vallejo. The calls came in at about noon, according to the Solano County Sheriff's Office. School officials said classes were canceled for the remainder of the day and evening at its three locations.

Sheriff's officials wrote on Twitter that all students and staff are safe, and that school administrators issued the mandatory evacuation order out of an abundance of caution.

According to a Solano County Sheriff's Office statement:

"At approximately 12:05 p.m., a Solano Community College staff member recieved a telephone call from an unknown male subject who stated there were, 'bombs' on all three Solano Community College campuses.
"At approximately 12:08 p.m., another staff member received a second call from an unknown female caller, who made the same vague threats.
"In an abundance of caution, the Superintendent/President of Solano Community College made a command decision to issue a mandatory evacuation order for all Solano Comunity College campuses.
"This is an ongoing investigation, we have law enforcement professionals sweeping all Solano campuses. We will provide updates as they becomes available."

Law enforcement and K9 teams responded to search each campus and classroom for any suspicious items, packages or explosives.

At 5:15 p.m., the Solano County Sheriff's Office said its K9 team members and employees had completed sweeps of the Vacaville, Vallejo and Fairfield campuses; all were deemed safe, however, classes remained canceled for the remainder of the day at the three locations.
