Downtown Children's Shop Celebrates First and 25th Annniversary

This children's resell store has remained steadfast in serving Solano and Yolo families for 25 years in both Davis and Dixon. Saturday will be the celebration of the first year in downtown Dixon.

“We felt the occasion was worth doubling the rewards to our customers, “ said Debra Dingman, owner of Nana & Co. Children’s Boutique, who is marking a “double” anniversary for her downtown business. The store is celebrating its first anniversary in downtown Dixon but also is marking its silver anniversary for store operation.

“Twenty-five years is a long time for any small business and despite that there have been a few owners over the years, this little business has survived because it is a great way to recycle quality baby and children’s items,” Dingman said. She has owned the store eight of its 25 years and is marking everything in the store at half off for one day only this Saturday.

“We will have refreshments and enjoy visiting our customers while making room for the spring clothes ready to come out,” she said.

“I congratulate Debra on her first year,” said Janis Luzzo, who expressed pleasure at having complimentary businesses. Luzzo owns Every Baking Moment, the cake decorating supply shop next door. “My customers will leave my store after planning their parties to buy gifts at hers, making our downtown truly one stop shopping,” she said.

Some of the highlights of the past year, Dingman noted, were the natural childbirth classes, the numerous children’s story time, the UC Davis professors sharing about new studies on child development at the Bringing Up Baby classes, the facilitation of Dr. James Dobson’s ‘Bringing Up Boys video seminar, and the latest endeavor, the new Moms Group that meets on Wednesday mornings, 9 to 10 am. Most of the classes are free or minimal cost to help parents build better families, Dingman said.

Nana & Co. has also hosted several business meetings such as the Downtown Dixon Business Association’s Merchant Meetings, Kiwanis Festival of Trees Committee Meetings, as well as Chamber of Commerce Mixers at the shop. A couple of the racks are on casters so easily move into corners to create a nice living room space for classes or meeting space.

The store is located at 141 N. First Street in the heart of downtown Dixon. You can learn more by call (707) 678-6262 or visit NanaAndCompany.com.
