DIXON, CA — Spooktacular news for Halloween fans in Solano County: You still can pick your perfect pumpkin and get lost in a mind-bending corn maze this year.

The season's go-to spot in Dixon, Cool Patch Pumpkins, will open Saturday with sales of pumpkins and gourds, hay rides, a mini fun zone and the legendary corn maze — revamped for 2020 with widened paths in keeping with COVID-19 safety precautions.

New coronavirus-pandemic standards are in place for staff and customers, and some activities are changed for the 2020 season, management said.

No group discounts and events, parties or field trips will be offered this year, and patrons are asked to visit only with live-in, household members and to wear masks when social distancing is not possible.

The family-friendly, fun zone, with pedal cars and hay-bale maze, is planned, but there will be no corn bath, hay stack, or Sudan grass maze this year.

And for 2020, the pumpkin patch has added hand-sanitizing stations, additional restrooms and 6-feet markers at the ticket booth, concession and coffee stands, along with staff-scheduled cleansings of common areas, operators said.

"We are looking forward to a fun-filled season for our wonderful customers," owners said. "And our goal is for Cool Patch to become an escape from the stress of 2020, so families can enjoy each other's company and the beauty of the fall season."

Cool Patch, at 6150 Dixon Ave. West in Dixon, will be open daily through Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Keep abreast of updates at its website here or on Facebook.
