Detectives Continue Probe Of Suspicious Fire Involving Unconscious Man

The subject is now identified and was possibly connected to Fairfield blaze. Anyone with info is asked to call police.

News announcement from the Fairfield Police Department:

On May 27, 2015, at approximately 10:27 am, the Fairfield Police Department responded to a suspicious vegetation fire in the area off of Chapparal Court.

Fairfield police officers were advised that firefighters with the Fairfield Fire Department located a male subject in the burned area of the fire’s path. The male subject was transported to an area hospital for smoke inhalation and possible burns from the fire.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Officers located items of evidence that indicate the fire was purposely set.

Officers also located evidence that indicates the male subject located in the fire was responsible for setting the fire.

The male subject has been identified as Joshua Hoeckendorf, a 35-year-old Fairfield resident. Hoekendorf is currently on parole for property crimes.

At this time, this case is currently under investigation. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are working cooperatively with members of the Fairfield Fire Department in this joint investigation.
