Dixon 2-Day Mega Book Sale Will Raise Funds For Future Historical Museum

More than 7,000 books will be on sale for 50 cents to $2.

DIXON, CA -- Booklovers who can’t resist poring through garage sales, estate sales and used bookstores looking for good, inexpensive reads may wish to visit a two-day, mega book sale being held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29 in Dixon. The sale will be outdoors in the Women’s Improvement Club Park, adjacent to the library at 230 North First Street in downtown Dixon.

More than 7,000 paperback books of the pocket, medium and trade sizes will be displayed on tables in the park. To make browsing easier, they will be separated into categories such as children’s, fiction, historical, travel, women’s, health, sports, automotive and more, organizers said. Donations will range from 50 cents for pocket-sized books to $2 for the largest books.

The proceeds will help fund Dixon’s future historical museum, for which approximately $50,000 has been raised so far by the Dixon Historical Society, according to a news release.

β€œThe books were donated by Angelo Querin of Dixon,” said the society’s fundraising chair, Mary Savage. β€œHe had intended to open a used book store, but when that didn’t happen, he decided to donate his stock to help with the museum project.”

The books vary in quality from used to like-new condition. Many are best-sellers. Donations will be in cash only, organizers said.
