Dixon City Hall Temporarily Closed

In consideration of mitigation strategies associated with the spread of COVID-19, officials in the City of Dixon have decided to close City Hall through the weekend to permit thorough disinfection and cleaning of all public areas. With the rapid spread of the coronavirus, city officials, like those across the nation, were faced with the challenge of following county, state, and federal guidance on preventing transmission.

The closure will allow city staff to conduct intensive cleaning operations of public and staff areas while enforcing social distancing necessary to prevent community transmission of the virus. “The City is committed to the health and welfare of the public as well as city staff,” Interim City Manager Joe Leach said. “This shutdown provides us with an opportunity to protect staff from transmission as well as provide time to clean and disinfect the city hall complex.”

Public safety services remain unaffected by the closure, and police and fire services remain fully staffed. Please note the public counter at the Fire Department remains closed until further notice, although this does not affect fire operations.

The closure is expected to last only through the weekend, and the City hopes to have City Hall open by appointment-only by Monday, March 23rd. “While we expect to be open Monday, we are going to assess the situation this weekend and will make a decision on any further closures,” Leach said.

Dixon Police and Fire services remain available 24 hours a day through the dispatch center at 707-678-7080.
