Dixon May Fair Unveils 2018 Theme & Logo

The excitement is building: Save the dates May 10-13. New this year: an "Ugly Cake Contest."

DIXON, CA – In honor of its 143-year history celebrating the community and region's skills and talents with projects, produce, pigs and pies, the annual Dixon May Fair decided on β€œHome Grown Fun!” as the 2018 theme for the fair, coming up May 10-13, according to Patricia Conklin, CEO.

Any California resident can enter their home-grown and homemade exhibits in most Dixon May’s Fair’s competitions, which may win a prized blue ribbon or a little cash, and there are hundreds of categories from which adults and youth can choose.

New for 2018 is an Ugly Cake Contest, for concoctions the must be ugly but must be edible as well! The cakes are sure to be fun to create and fun for the judges.

Amateur and professional photographers can enter their California state park photos for a chance to earn a special California Parks ribbon, a Fairs and Parks lapel pin and a one-day pass to a California state park.

Entertainment for 2018 at the Coors Light Grandstand will include:

  • Friday, May 11 at 7 p.m.:West Coast Rodeo Company CCPRA Bull and Bronc Riding Event
  • Saturday, May 12th at 7 p.m.:Maxx Kakl Powersports Tractor Pull Competition
  • Sunday, May 13th at 5:30 p.m.: Demolition Derby

β€œHome Grown Fun!” at the Dixon May Fair runs Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13 with "Special Day "discounts for children and seniors.

Special Days:

  • THRIFTY THURSDAY, May 10 – $5.00 for Everyone 5 years of age and older
  • KID’S DAY FRIDAY, May 11 – Children 12 and under free fair admission all day

Fair Hours:

  • Thursday at 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. (Ticket sales & buildings close at 9 p.m.) No Re-entry after 9 p.m.
  • Friday at Noon – 11 p.m. (Ticket sales & buildings close at 10 p.m.) No Re-entry after 10 p.m.
  • Saturday at 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. (Ticket sales & buildings close at 10 p.m.) No Re-entry after 10 pm.
  • Sunday at Noon – 10 p.m. (Ticket sales & buildings close at 9 p.m.) No Re-entry after 9 p.m
