Dixon Patch Viewfinder: Photos From Dixon's Good Old Days
The best of the library's photo archives
When I first saw the photo above in the online photo archive, I was really taken with the calm beauty of it all. In the photo, time seemed to have slowed down and a rural simplicity had taken hold. These were days when people read a lot and wrote elaborate letters to each other.
I decided to dedicate a Viewfinder to photos from these Good Old Days (the Golden Era), so I made selections from the entire library archive. Here you'll find about 30 photos, mostly of people that seem to be able to jump the span of time from then to now. In some instances I cropped a few interesting people out of a group portrait. The captions will explain more about some of the photos. Β
