Dixon Patch Viewfinder: Quilting, Cooking and Captured Images at the May Fair
Blueberry pie, anyone?
One corner of the May Fair fairgrounds is devoted to the arts: culinary, quilting, and photography/painting. If you're into any of those activities, be sure to visit while enjoying the fair.Β
I headed over to photograph the entries in the cooking contest (these, in addition to the livestock exhibitions make the May Fair look like a bona fide county fair) but ended up checking out the other arts as well. Here you'll see a good representation of all the arts entries.Β
Being a photographer, I was a bit dubious about the quality of the photography exhibits, because I can remember attending county fairs 20 years ago and being underwhelmed by the quality of the photos. But I think the ease of use of digital cameras (including not having to buy film) and the use of software such as Photoshop has helped amateur photographers step up to higher levels of quality.

So, I was impressed.
As for the cooking, when photographing things like toffee and pie, I really had to restrain myself from grabbing a bite! Β
