Dixon's Dr. Timm takes 'Best Veterinarian' Honor

Atkinson Self Storage Will Launch Lien Sale

Dr. Timm is Tops

It pretty impressive when a Dixon business makes the โ€˜Bestโ€™ category of the Vacaville Reporterโ€™s โ€˜Best of 2011 Bookโ€™ which is why I think itโ€™s worth noting that on the very last page, Dr. Peter Timm of Dixon Veterinary Clinic got the top spot for best vet. Dr. Timmโ€™s office is at 7925 Pedrick Road in Dixon and has long been our choice for our pets.

Dependable Heating and Air also took top spot for Heating and Air Companies with Greiner getting a runner up spot. There were several Dixon businesses that got runner up classifications such as Punjabi Dhaba Indian Restaurant, Cattlemenโ€™s for Steak House, Maeโ€™s Attic for Antiques, Fiskโ€™s Cyclery for Bike Shops, Pedrick Produce for Fruit Stands, Solano Computer Guys for Computer Repairs. The annual business contest is sponsored by the Reporter and it published/distributed in their Sunday edition.

CHP Seeks Seniors

Well, this is a changeโ€”someone is actually looking for more mature people to work in their organization. This happens to be fresh from the California Highway Patrol: ย The CHP is looking for older volunteers to donate their time in its Solano office.

Volunteers will occasionally ride along with officers to serve as an additional set of eyes and be asked to help with administrative functions such as data entry, filing, photocopying, answering phones and assisting the Watch Commander. They also will be asked to help at community events. In these tough economic times, utilizing volunteers frees up clerical staff and uniformed officers to focus on their primary duties.

"If you are looking for an opportunity in making a difference in traffic safety in our community, we would love to hear from you." said Captain Mark Mulgrew, the commander of the Solano CHP area.ย

Candidates must be at least 55 years old and able to work a minimum of eight hours per month. They must pass a background check, have a good driving record and complete an informal in-house academy. Those interested are asked to call Senior Volunteer Kenneth Powell at (707) 428-2100 on Mondays or Thursdays.ย  You can also email him at: ย kpowell@chp.ca.gov.ย
