Friday:

2nd Friday ArtAbout is a monthly evening of art viewing and artists’ receptions at galleries and businesses in Downtown Davis and beyond. All events are free and open to the public -- many include a chance to meet and greet featured artists, enjoy refreshments, art demos and more. Typically, 18 to 25 venues participate each month. While strolling to & from art shows, catch rotating live music in E Street Plaza as well as at several art receptions. Tonight, hop, bop, twist & shout to the music of Frankie & the Fabletones —A 10-piece band with four lead singers performing oldies favorites from the ’50s & ’60s.

If you go: This free event is from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Downtown Davis. To get a schedule which changes every 2nd Friday, click here or email artabout@davisdowntown.com. The music’s happening in the E Street Plaza.

Friday-Sunday:

Hikes, guided outings, kid’s fun, slide shows, movies, art and food! There's so much going on at Mare Island; explore the wetland habitats of Mare Island on a wildlife viewing trail or visit the headquarters for educational displays, an art show and snacks and cold drinks, local honey, fennel and dill pollen seasonings, books as well as a silent auction and raffle items–all to benefit the Preserve. Kids and grown-ups can climb the Coast Live Oak or head up the hill in the Rowser Garden to a group of “climbing” trees with rope and a tire-swing. Come aboard the LCS-102 Mighty Midget restored WWII Landing Craft Support Gunboat and get a glimpse of a tugboat built at Mare Island in 1943. There’s so much to do; take a look at the schedule and spend the day at Mare Island.

If you go: Dress in layers and remember to bring your camera and binoculars. The Preserve is open from 9 a.m. until sunset.  Mare Island Preserve is located in Vallejo.

Saturday

A fun time for all and your donation helps the Dixon Lions Club give back to the community! This great evening includes the club’s famous barbecued tri tip sandwiches, a no host bar, and a chance to win the grand prize of a $500 merchandise card! All service clubs need your help more than ever in these trying times. Must be 21 to attend.

If you go: A $75 donation will get you one of the Lion Club’s famous tri-tip sandwiches as well an entry into the tournament. Anyone who would like to purchase a ticket is asked to do so in advance by calling Kushan at (530) 400-2844. Tickets will also be available at the door. The fun begins at 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the on , 201 S. 5^th St. in Dixon.  Go Lady Luck!
