Friday:
The Davis Community Gallery will host an exhibit of contemporary linocut prints by artist Jesús Cruz, Jr. The prints will be on exhibit at the gallery located inside Davis Community Clinic through November 4, 2011. T-shirts and linocut print cards will also be available for purchase at the Artist Reception. Much of the imagery is reminiscent of motifs associated with the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) traditions celebrated in Mexican communities at the start of November. Jesús currently works out of Division 9 Gallery, Riverside, California.
If you go:The artist's reception is tonight from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Davis Community Gallery located in the Davis Community Clinic, 2051 John Jones Road in Davis.

Family Volunteer Day showcases the benefits of families working together, introduces young children who cannot normally volunteer for community service, and encourages those who haven’t yet made a commitment to volunteer as a family. There will be two shifts available to volunteer by reservation only. If your family has not participated in Family Volunteer Day before be sure to reserve for the 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. shift. If your family has participated before and would like to help out again be sure to reserve for the 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. shift.
If you go: To participate, children must be ages 5 and older and must be accompanied by an adult; provide one chaperone per child for children ages 5 - 10 and at least one chaperone for every 2 to 3 children ages 11 and up. RSVP's are required. You can now register online by clicking here. There is limited space so registration is on a first come, first served basis. Saturday:
The 3rd Annual DAC Summer Attack! Teen Concert features a huge bill of regional teen bands at the Davis Art Center. Performing is Parie Wood (opening), Crow Canyon, Downhill From Here, Uncle Tony and the headlining band, Exhale. All proceeds benefit the Davis Art Center’s youth programs and to the bands!
If you go: Tickets are $7 and can be bought at the door and the music begins at 5:30 sharp. Additionally there will be pizza and other snack for sale plus a raffle with fun prizes. The Davis Art Center is at 1919 F St. in Davis.
Saturday
Robbie Jimenez is a local musician and composer. The rock orchestra he has assembled for this event are local musicians who will debut his original works including his upcoming album “Invincible.” Young Artists Conservatory is promoting Robbie as an up and coming new artist. This event will raise funds to further Robbie’s musical education.
If you go: Tickets are $20 and can be bought by clicking here. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre, 1010 Ulatis Drive in Vacaville.
