Friday:
It doesn’t get much better than sitting on a picnic blanket enjoying handmade beers and handmade films on a beautiful summer’s eve. Pack a picnic and come over to Central Park in Davis some whimsy and folly! Proceeds raised will benefit Davis Bicycles! and Davis Bicycle Collective.
If you go: Beer tastings are $1 for 3 oz homemade tastings and the films are free. The event is from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Central Park is on 401 C Street (between 3rd Street and 5th Street) in Davis.

Saturday:
The invites you to an old-fashioned street fair featuring a pork rib barbecue and chili cook-off contest, car show, and live music by the popular country western band, Whisky Dawn. ‘Grillin’ and Chillin’ will host crafter’s booths, cold beer and refreshing drinks, a stage of ongoing entertainment, children’s activities, numerous crafter’s booths, and a whole lot of family fun. Hundreds of dollars will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each category of the cooking contests and the public can purchase plenty of tasting. plans on offering their ‘Silveyville Express’ children’s ride-on train as part of the day-long fun. There will also be face-painting, a petting zoo, and a jump house set up in the Women’s Improvement Club Park for little ones to enjoy as well. Come on over and join the fun.

If you go: The fair is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Dixon(Hwy 113 from West C Street to West Chestnut).
Saturday:
This Saturday, join a guided walk with Naturalist Deborah Bartens. Explore this wonderful preserve and look for birds, butterflies, dragonflies, lizards and mammals. Meet in the parking lot at 10 a.m. to take this walk on the wild side.The guided hike is free, but parking is $5 per vehicle. Lynch Canyon has one restroom, located beside the parking lot. There is no drinking water anywhere on the property. Bring binoculars and a hand lens if you have them. Also bring $5 cash for parking, water, snacks or a picnic lunch, bug repellent, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and protection from sun, wind, and fog. For the protection of habitat, wildlife, and cattle, dogs are not allowed.

Sunday:
The Helladelics is a Bay Area band specializing in traditional Greek roots music. While having a special fondness for the hypnotic, bluesy material from the Epirus region of northwestern Greece, their repertoire also spans the region: from the upbeat dance tunes from Thrace to the sweet vocal songs from the islands, as well as some jaunts to Asia Minor and Armenia as well. Opa!
If you go: Reserved tickets are $13 and tickets are $15 at the door. The music is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Homes Community Center, 2661 Portage Bay East in Davis. For more information or to buy tickets call Gil at 530-867-1032.
