Fatality On I-80: Man Struck, Killed By Big-Rig
A sig-alert was in place Wednesday morning following the fatal collision but lanes have since reopened.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — All lanes of eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville have reopened following a fatal collision Wednesday morning between a pedestrian and a big-rig, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big-rig struck and killed a man who was walking in the slow eastbound lane of the highway around 7 a.m., CHP reported.
The big-rig driver, a 54-year-old man from Daly City, stopped at the scene, according to CHP.

The truck driver was not injured in the incident, CHP officials said.
A sig-alert was in place as the collision closed the far right eastbound lane.

At 8:35 a.m., CHP reported all lanes were open.
The identity of the deceased man was pending notification of his next of kin.
CHP Officer Dave Harvey, spokesperson for CHP's Solano Area Office, issued the following news release about the incident:
"On Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at approximately 6:50 am, an International truck/trailer combination was traveling on Interstate 80 eastbound, just east of Alamo Drive, in the #4 lane (slow lane). The driver of the International truck/tractor combination observed a pedestrian walking in the lane ahead. The driver was unable to stop his vehicle and it collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the collision scene.
"Any person with information pertinent to this investigation is asked to contact the CHP at our non-emergency line 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247) or the CHP Solano Area Office at (707) 428-2100. Relate that you have information for CHP - Solano and Officer Holmes who is handling this investigation. Any information obtained in regards to this collision will be greatly appreciated."
