Gallery: Wondrous Variety of Miniature Nativity Scenes at Methodist Church

Families Display Their Treasured Keepsakes During Annual Festival of the Nativity

This past Sunday, Dixon's historic United Methodist Church opened up its sanctuary to the display of dozens of miniature Nativity scenes from many different countries, cultures and artistic styles. Some have been kept and displayed by local families for decades. Many were purchased when the owners were on overseas trips.Β

They were constructed from materials ranging from soda cans, matchsticks and corn husks to fine china, cermaics and glass.

In an adjoining room, materials were available for children to make their own nativity scenes using cut-out fabrics and wood blocks.
