Chinese New Year Celebration at Sac State on Saturday; Valentine ideas abound

1. Valentine’s Dinner Dance with the Phirehouse Philharmonics – Dixon’s own jazz band will present another performance at the fundraiser on Friday, February11. A social hour will start at 6 p.m. followed by a prime rib dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and includes soft drinks or coffee plus a dessert. 2. Sacramento Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet – Presenting the world’s most powerful and passionate love story Thursday, February 10 through Sunday, February 14 with seat prices from $15 to $63. Oh the pageantry, the glorious music, the luxurious costumes, and the magnificent dancing there will be. Performed at the Sacramento Convention Center in the Community Center Theater. 3. Denio’s Farmer’s Market & Swap Meet – Roseville is just a short drive and this inexpensive fun place will keep you walking and finding bargains all day with a $3 parking fee. 4. Chinese New Year Celebration – After many months of preparations, this event will take place at the California State University Campus in Sacramento in the CSUS Student Union, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.. There will be traditional lion dances, martial arts, kung fu, Tai Chi, music, cultural dance performances, Chinese painting and arts, singing contest, children’s games, and other fun cultural activities and exhibits. 5. Women’s Heart to Heart Luncheon – Sponsored by NorthBay Healthcare in Fairfield, this free luncheon is for celebrating National Heart Month. Wear red and join the crowd for a delicious, vegetarian menu while Chef Marcella Friel demonstrates how you can prepare the heart-healthy fare at home.
