Infant Suffers Severe Head Trauma; Father Arrested In Nearby Davis

The 7-week-old little boy was first treated at Sutter before being transferred to ICU at UC Davis. [Breaking]

DAVIS, CA – A Davis father was arrested in connection with severe head trauma suffered by his 7-week-old boy, police said.

Davis police were called Thursday at approximately 7:21 p.m. to Sutter Davis Hospital where the baby was being treated for severe head trauma that allegedly occurred while he was being cared for by his father, police said. The child subsequently was transferred from Sutter to the UC Davis Medical Center where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

The father, 36-year-old Victor Duarte Briones of Davis, was arrested for suspicion of causing serious bodily injury to a child, and was booked into the Yolo County Jail with bail set at $500,000, police said.

Detectives have served a search warrant related to this investigation on the 2300 block of Shasta Drive.
