Confirming Dixon's status as an farming-related community, the May Fair is host to a number of animal-judging competitions. The animals' young owners are scored on how well they handle their animals as well as the animals' appearance.
Thursday morning the sheep building was alive with the bleating of sheep, owners prepping them for show, and a crowd watching as a judge separated out the winners.Β
As you'll see in the photos, the young sheep handlers sometimes had a tough time walking, positioning and just plain holding on to their animals. There were several adults helping catch the sheep when they broke loose.Β

The local sheep ranching community was out in force, and they'll probably return for this year's Lambtown U.S.A. festival in October.
