Little League Minors TOC: Dixon Pounds Esparto 9-0
The Cardinals avoid elimination, need a pair of win against Winters to take title.
The Dixon Cardinals staved off elimination in the District 64 Tournament of Champions with a 9-0 victory against the Esparto Giants Saturday afternoon in Esparto.
The Cardinals will now play against the Winters Giants on Monday at 6 p.m. in Esparto. If Winters wins, they clinch the title, but if Dixon wins, both teams will play again on Wednesday.
Jerick Maghoney and Seth Parrish pitched the majority of the game, with Dawson Dwyer coming into record the final two outs, according to Cardinals’ coach Jeff Maghoney. The younger Maghoney was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles.
