The Stapler Sisters ask that you hum the melody to Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole’ Oak Tree while you are reading the following lyrics to get the full effect.
Please join us in this activity to let the Dixon City Council know we have had enough of their shenanigans!
Tie a Big Red Ribbon on Your Property“By The Stapler Sisters”
Dixon is our home.
We plan to stay
The train doesn’t stop here,
we can’t leave anyway
Our City Council has gone astray,
fifteen hundred voters strong were turned away,
does Democracy work that way?
When you read this letter, you will know just what to do.
BEFORE MONDAY, AUGUST 18, tie a big red ribbon on your property,
tell the Dixon City Council to end the tyranny.
It’s been a long time comin’, but the “hole” is complete.
Dignitaries will gather and praise the engineering feat.
It is clear to us, the council does not see, what truly needs to be.
An overpass for cars, not a “hole” for pedestrians crossing the street.
Whoa, tie a big red ribbon on your property,
tell the City Council to end the tyranny.
Councilman Jerry, please tell me
Where is the concern for the public’s safety?
We fear that the tunnel end, we can’t see,and walls covered with uncensored graffiti.
A simple big red ribbon is what we need to set us free.
Whoa, tie a big red ribbon on your property,
In three short years the Council will double our sewer fee.
The Dixon City Council tells us don’t complain,
It’s all in vain, pipe down and pay the fee.
Tie a big red ribbon on your property, tell the City Council to end the tyranny.
Mayor Jack, please speak to me
Cause I want to hear what you might say about the questionable games staff and council play.
This is not the prison but we know you hold the key.
We need to end the tyranny.
Whoa, tie a big red ribbon on your property,
Its been four long years and soon Dane will be free;
He can snooze, forget about us, and continue to drink his tea
While many of us are tying big red ribbons on our property.
On Monday, we can hear the cheerin’ and we are amazed at what we see
Hundreds of big red ribbons decorating Dixon voter’s properties!
Whoa, tie a big red ribbon on your property; tell the city council to end the tyranny.
