Motorcyclist Struck In Hit-and-Run Passes Away From Injuries
The vehicle that did not stop at the Vacaville scene was described by police as a white, mid-90s to early-2000s Ford Explorer SUV.

VACAVILLE, CA β A Vacaville man succumbed to injuries sustained when he was struck while riding his motorcycle Tuesday evening in Vacaville by an SUV that fled the scene, according to authorities.
"It is with heavy hearts we share that 61-year-old Vacaville resident Richard Sauerwein has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a collision which occurred earlier this evening," the Vacaville Police Department said Tuesday night.
Sauerwein was riding his motorcycle east on Monte Vista Avenue near Callen Street around 7:35 p.m., when a motorist pulled out of a parking lot onto eastbound Monte Vista, merged into Sauerweinβs lane and hit the rider, police said.

The vehicle involved did not stop after the collision and continued east on Monte Vista, police said, adding that it was described as a white, mid-1990s to early-2000s Ford Explorer.
Sauerwein suffered blunt-force injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he passed away, the department said.

Monte Vista, between Callen and Brown streets, was closed for several hours as investigators collected evidence.
