Pedestrian Killed Tuesday Night In Solano Co. Was Walking In Road With Shopping Cart

A man was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking in unincorporated Solano County north of Vallejo on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle driver, Jose Jacinto Valencia, 32 of Vacaville, was traveling east on McGary Road east of Hiddenbrooke Parkway in a black Chevrolet Tahoe around 10:50 p.m. and said he saw a man in all black clothing pushing a shopping cart in the middle of the road directly in front of his vehicle, CHP officials said.

Valencia tried to apply the brakes and swerve to the left, but the right front of the Tahoe struck the pedestrian, who died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The pedestrian’s name is not yet being released because his next-of-kin has not been notified of his death, according to the Solano County coroner’s office.
