Police Bust Pair of Alleged Mail Thieves in Fairfield

A citizen first alerted law enforcement to the theft. The duo reportedly swiped mail from 30 homes.

A call from an alert citizen to the Fairfield Police Department led to the arrests last week of a man and woman for suspected mail theft.

On Thursday at 11:32 p.m., patrol officers responded to Burgundy Way and Concord Avenue on a report of two subjects allegedly stealing mail from several residential mailboxes in the neighborhood, according to police.

Police spotted two subjects matching the description provided, and subsequently arrested the pair -- Franklin Thorsen, 26, and Jackey Sykes, 20, both Fairfield residents.

Police said Thorsen and Sykes were in possession of β€œan excessive amount” of mail from 30 different victims who lived in the neighborhood.

Thorsen and Sykes were arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for a myriad of charges, including suspicion of conspiracy, petty theft, mail theft, possessing stolen property and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police commend the citizen who called, adding that the arrest of the suspects would not have been possible without their involvement and cooperation.
