Solano County Unemployment Rate Slightly Up
Rio Vista had the highest unemployment rate in the county last month, according to figures released by California EDD.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — The unemployment rate rose slightly in Solano County last month, from 3.9 percent in November 2017 to 4.1 percent — or 8,500 people without work — in December 2017, according to California's Employment Development Department. However, the number of unemployed people in the county was still 1 percent fewer than one year ago in December 2016.
In Dixon, the unemployment rate was 3.4 percent in December; in Suisun City it was 3.5 percent; in Benicia, 2.5; in Vacaville, 3.2; in Vallejo, 5.5; in Fairfield, 3.6; and in Rio Vista, 8.2 percent.
Across the San Francisco Bay Area, unemployment rates were below five percent in all nine counties last month, the EDD reported. San Mateo County had the lowest rate at 2.1 percent, followed by Marin County at 2.3 percent and San Francisco at 2.4 percent.

In Santa Clara and Sonoma counties, unemployment was below three percent. Alameda and Contra Costa counties reported unemployment of 3 and 3.1, respectively.
Statewide, unemployment was 4.3 percent, compared with 4.1 percent nationwide.
