SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- Vacaville police arrested three Stockton juveniles on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle after a pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

A Vacaville patrol car and the stolen vehicle caught fire in dry grass at the end of the pursuit, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle that was reported stolen in Galt when it sped by on eastbound Interstate Highway 80. The vehicle failed to stop and drove north and south on Interstate Highway 505 for about 10 miles at speeds reaching 120 mph, police said.

The stolen vehicle almost caused a traffic collision when it exited Highway 505 and spun out in the grass and dirt at Vaca Valley Parkway in Vacaville, police said.

Police detained the juvenile driver as smoke billowed out from beneath one of the pursuing police patrol cars. The grass fire spread and engulfed the stolen car and patrol car, but officers got the other two juveniles out of the car to safety.

Two of the juveniles are currently on probation, and all three are accused of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, conspiracy and felony evading, police said. Their names are not being released because they are underage.

Police said officers were able to pursue the stolen vehicle because traffic was light on Highway 505.
