Sunday 3-Alarm Fire Contained At Area Landfill

DIXON, CA – A three-alarm fire at a landfill in Vacaville was contained Sunday afternoon, Dixon Fire Department fire Chief Greg Lewis said.

The fire burned only compost and about two acres of grass and had been contained by 4:15 p.m. at B & J Landfill at 6426 Hay Road.

The landfill is about eight miles south of Dixon near state Highway 113.

The first report of the fire came in at around 2:30 p.m., Lewis said. He said it would probably be 6:15 p.m. or 7:15 p.m. before the fire was extinguished.

No one was injured and no structures damaged or threatened.
