Two Dead In Suspected Murder-Suicide in Davis

The bodies were discovered at a home on Glacier Drive.

A suspected murder-suicide involving a man and woman occurred Thursday evening at a home on Glacier Drive in Davis, police said.

The deceased individuals were identified as 27-year-old Whitney Engler and 23-year-old Joseph Hein, both of Davis, according to authorities.

The Davis Police Department reported receiving a 911 call at approximately 6:50 p.m. from a male requesting an ambulance and advising police respond to the Glacier residence because a male and a female were in the house, had been shot and were deceased.

Dispatchers were unable to gain further information from the caller, however, as he refused to answer questions and abruptly hung up, police said.

Believing an armed suspect possibly was still in the home and after unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone inside, the SWAT team was called, police said.

Entry was made several hours later and officers found the deceased Engler and Hein, both dead from gunshot wounds, police said.

Although it is early in the investigation, detectives said that preliminary evidence suggests this was a murder-suicide, do not believe anyone else wasΒ involved, and are not actively seeking any suspects at this time.
