Vacaville Firefighters Battling Fire in Hills of Cherry Glen, Pleasants Valley Roads

11:53 p.m.: The fire is fully contained. It was contained at 10:02 p.m. Solano County fire resources and Cal Fire crews will be working overnight to fully extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no structures were reported damaged as of this posting.

9:32 p.m.: Fire is about 50 percent contained and has burned 45 acres.

9:07 p.m.: Firefighters have called for closure of Wykoff Drive for further structure protection. A concern has been raised about safety equipment for the strike teams. "Do we have enough safety equipment for them?"

8:50 p.m.: Traffic is being re-diverted along Highway 80 because of the fire. A Vaca fire engine is providing structure protection. Teams are building trenches along the fire line on Cherry Glen Road in an attempt to gain containment of the flames.

8:35 p.m.: The scanner is alive with activity as fire crews coordinate the effort to extinguish this 4th alarm blaze. The strike team is assembling at a church along Pleasants Valley Road.

8:31 p.m.: CHP Officers are closing Pleasant Valley Road and other roads in the area.

8:24 p.m.: Flames appear to be moving north. Cars parked along Alamo appear to be obstructing the firefighting efforts. Type 1 strike team has been called in to help combat the flames.

Smoke is belching in the skies of Vacaville this evening as fire crews battle a blaze in the hills of Cherry Glen and Pleasants Valley roads.

The fire was called in at 7:42 p.m., and is burning vegetation. The intensity of the flames has prompted Vacaville fire crews to call in a 4th alarm and they are receiving mutual aid from neighboring fire stations.
