Weekend Planner for April 22-24

Are you looking for something nearby to do this weekend? Check out some of the cool things on the Dixon Patch Events Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Friday:

Winner of seven Tonys and the Pulitzer Prize in 1961, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying comes to the Davis Musical Theatre Company stage on April 22 through May 15, 2011.  Following the advice of a book entitled, "How to Succeed in Business" (voiced by Good Day Sacramento’s Don Geronimo), a young window-cleaner, J. Pierrepont Finch (David Holmes), begins a meteoric rise from the mail-room to Vice President of Advertising at the World-Wide Wicket Company. However, Finch's dubious and uncompromising business ambition endangers not only his career but also a budding romance with secretary Rosemary Pilkington (Kay Hight). Don't miss it.

If you go: The Davis Musical Theatre Company is at Hoblit Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Drive, Davis, Ca. Tickets are between $9-$18.  Friday shows begin at 8:15 pm.

Friday: Drive One 4 Ur School Fundraiser

Come out to Dixon High School and take a test drive of one of Ron DuPratt Ford's vehicles. For each test drive (one per household) the dealership will donate $20 to DHS' Athletics Department. How cool is that? Happening now and lasting until 7 p.m. Get on down there and do a test drive!

Saturday:

Bring your kites and kids. It's a family friendly event. All ages and ability levels are welcome.The festival is free but there is a $5 parking fee. For more information call 707-432-0150 x200.

If you go: Lynch Canyon is at 3100 Lynch Road in Vallejo, 1.5 miles off I- 80 from American Canyon/Hiddenbrooke Exit, American Canyon, and you can fly your kite from noon till 4 p.m.

 

Saturday:

Pabst Blue Ribbon will be sponsoring Karaoke Night.  From 9 pm to Midnight, Pabst will only cost $ 1.00 per glass.  Last month this event drew over 80 people, so come early and enjoy the fun.   Family members are welcome- all ages allowed.

Saturday: Community Block Party, Womens Improvement Club Park

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month so come out and enjoy a day of fun as hosts its community block party. The fun begins at 10 a.m., at the park next to the and lasts until about 2 p.m. Free activities, music, and demonstrations that tie into the theme of Child Abuse Awareness.

If you go: Please be sure to pick up one of the shirts with the logo designed by Anderson Elementary School 6th Grader Kitsia Torres. They are super cool!

Saturday: Campus Beautification Day at

Come out to the high school and help students clean up the campus. This yearly event is designed to tidy up the campus at DHS and provide a sense of school pride to students. The event at Dixon High (555 College Way) begins at 9 a.m., and lasts until 2 p.m. Refreshments to be served afterwards.

If you go: Bring a friend or two to help get the campus looking beautiful! Dress in clothes that you won't mind getting dirty!
