In order to keep you informed regarding the planning for the 2020-21 school year and the details on how we will reopen, we will publish an update every Friday throughout the summer. Additional updates will be provided as developments occur and decisions are made.
The District is continuing to plan for all possible reopening options. A full physical reopening is our most preferred option. Full distance learning is our least preferred option. Between these two “all-or-nothing” alternatives is a blended approach that is being called a hybrid model by many. It's features include, but are not limited to:

- A combination of in-person and distance learning.
- A reduced amount of time / days physically present at school.
- A reduced number of students on campus / in a classroom at a time.
- Students following a set schedule for instructional time with their teachers on a daily / weekly basis.
District staff is currently working on possible designs of a hybrid model, as well as preparing for both full in-person and full distance learning. Specific models will be presented to the Governing Board at its next meeting on July 2nd at 6:00 PM Look for the agenda to be posted on Friday, June 26th with information on how to log in to attend.
The District has prepared a survey for parents to complete regarding their preferences about reopening models. The links to the survey (English and Spanish) have been emailed to parents, are on the District website ( www.Dixonusd.org ), and are on the District's Facebook page. We ask that only parents or guardians complete the survey once, and encourage written comments and questions in the area provided for them. Results from the survey will be shared at the next Governing Board Meeting on July 2nd at 6:00 PM
For those with high school students who participate in athletics, Dixon High will be able to begin conditioning sessions for them soon. It is up to the coaching staff of each sport as to whether they conduct these workouts, so coaches will be directly contacting athletes in their program in addition to some school-wide advertising. Activities will be very limited in nature and will require daily screenings, full social distancing, and no use of equipment or scrimmaging / games. Look for information coming from Dixon High School Athletics and coaches about the way to begin to participate.
