What's Happening This Week in Dixon

City Council Will Discuss Water, Furloughs, and the Public Pool

Good morning friendly Dixonites. Here's a host of meetings and activities to take note of for this week's warm and sunny summer days.

Tuesday, July 24, 7:15 am - Dixon Networking Association Meeting – No host breakfast at Bud’s Pub & Grill. Guests welcome. For more information, contact Donny Everhart, 673-7599.Β Β More info is at www.dixonnetworkingassociates.org.

Tuesday, July 24, 7 pm – City Council Meeting at Dixon’s City Hall. The dais will consider taking control of the which includes approximately 2,600 customers within the city limits. The potable water system is presently co-owned by the city and the Solano Irrigation District and its finances are in dire straits. City Council will also consider rescinding the city’s furlough program. Since 2009 and to save on city expenses during the recession, city workers have a furlough day on the first Friday of the month. The Council will also hear an additional staff report in relation to funding the public pool which could lead to an increase in pool use fees.

Wednesday, July 25, 10 am – Children’s Story and Craft Time. Subject: Mice. No charge and plenty of good summer entertainment.

Wednesday, July 25, - 5:30 to 7 pm – Mixer hosted by Dixon Financial and Insurance Services and the Law Office of Dane Besneatte, 100 N. Adams Street. $5 members; $10 non-Chamber members; first time guests are free. Prizes, fun, food, and business connections.

Sunday, July 29,Β  - 5th Annual Back-to-School Big Give at Tremont Elementary School, 355 Pheasant Run Drive from 2 to 4 pm. Free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, immunizations, fingerprint ID kits, crafts, snacks, and doctor checkups (for parents without insurance). All kindergarten thru 12th grade students are welcome and must be present to receive a back pack. Sponsored byof Dixon and numerous businesses.
